Are we there yet?

Another graphic in the alphabet series started by my 'Go with the Flow' poster.
These designs are based on words that can only be made from letters in alphabetical order.
Font used is Arial Black. See if you can come up with any of your own?

Life is like...

Putting a fwist on the famous quote from the classic movie, Forrest Gump . You know the one "Like is like a box of chocolates…"
The grenade was hand drawn in Illustrator from a basic pencil sketch. The text is set in Bodoni Book, another classic that seems to fit the bill.

I 8 Mondays

Maybe its just me but I really don't like the 'M' word. This graphic celebrates the fact that Monday really is my least favourite day of the week.  I used the word 8 instead of hate to create a bit more interest and textures to give it a retro look. Fonts used were Gill Sans Regular and Rockwell.

Matisse Tribute

This poster was used to encourage people to enjoy the everyday sounds around them.
The graphics are based on the style of Matisse's cutout illustrations - which have been very influential to many graphic designers over the years (including myself).

You can see some of these original illustrations at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. The exhibition, 'The Art Books of Henri Mattise' runs until 15th April 2012. If you do venture there - enjoy!

Monumental

This graphic was created to tie in with the Phenomenon design, and was used as a teaser graphic.
Again created in Illustrator and used across a variety of media in print and online.

Phenomenon

A save the date graphic to announce a new web based software application.
All the graphics were created in Illustrator.

Jump for Joy

I jumped at the chance to create a graphic for a dance poster. This was produced in Illustrator and the dancer was vectorised from a photo. Feathered edge and audio waves also added for effect.

Blue Swirls

A personal project. Just a play around in Illustrator using the repeat and gradient features. Im always amazed that you can create something like this in a couple of minutes... Thank you Apple and Adobe!

Make some noise

Make some noise was a concept to warn people about the dangers of using earphones on loud settings. The client liked the idea but made so many changes the essence was of the design was lost! So here is the original idea that never saw (or heard) the light of day...

Bea-uty

Transparency effects are very cool when used sparingly - and so easy to achieve with the latest software. This graphic was a concept for a sophisticated beauty spa. All the graphics and text were created in Quark.

Tin Tin

Nothing to do with the animation! This is a graphic I created for a chocolate tin to promote a new product. Due to costs, the tin idea was dropped - but the design lives on...

Rock on

Perhaps Im an old rocker at heart, but I just love graphics with these old style 'metal' fonts. This design was used for a poster - the strings on the guitar listing the venue details. The image in the background is a coloured up scan of a real crowd.

Taste the Orient

I really liked this oriental looking image of umbrellas and finally found a use for it. A personal project for a chinese style flyer. The graphic colours (CMYK) were taken directly from the image to create a balanced look.

X Factor

One day I was scribbling on my doodle pad - the next thing I had created a set of X based logos. I thought it could be the basis for an X Facor logo. This was created in Illustrator - and perhaps the original X factor logo is in need of a make over anyway?

Rise from the Ashes

This design was created for the launch of a new loyalty scheme. I created the Phoenix in Illustrator using graduated blends. Typeface is Trebuchet.

Blerb Logo

This logo just started out as a little doodle. I really love the brush tool in Illustrator - even with the mouse you can get some really fluid looking shapes. It was also time to ressurect an old favourite font - FF Blur.

Sing Poster

Graphic created in Illustrator with vectorised image for a poster design.
The background scribbles were created freehand using a thick brush. I also set the vector image to multiply so it overprints the colours. Very quick and easy to create but also very effective.
