After becoming quite addicted to using Adobe Ideas for the iPhone I thought I would share a few more scribbles. As I previously noted this is a basic package but is ideal for sketching out rough ideas that can be edited at a later date in Illustrator. Adobe Ideas uses true vectors so no nasty pixelation no matter how much you scale up. And it's only £7!

Rings of Olympia
The Olympic rings make a perfect symmetrical logo for 3D treatment. Originally I decided to use the full colour version, but after seeing the London 2012 opening ceremony, gold seemed like the only option. The rings were drawn in Illustrator and the 3D effect was applied using the Extrude and Revolve tools with custom perspective and lighting. The font is Myriad medium and bold.
I think the opening ceremony was an amazing spectacle and I hope the games are just as successful!

Dope
I created this custom font in Illustrator using just cut and repositioned circles. As far as Im aware the word 'dope' means good - Im certainly not promoting drugs here!

Adobe Ideas
Adobe have created an App for iPhone and iPad users that has basic drawing and editing features so you can create design ideas on the go. The features are simple but you can create basic graphics that can be exported as PDF for editing in illustrator. Some quick examples are included here. I would recommend a stylus pen if you are going to give this a go!

Hands on
A simple poster to advertise a hands on workshop for a training session. The graphics were traced from an existing image and assembled in Illustrator. The font is Meta Bold.

Wanted
I created this Wild West style poster to promote a new shop opening. The idea was to create more interest than a typical launch flyer. This design was used as posters and flyers and was created using Quark and Photoshop. The fonts are Helvetica Black Condensed and Garamond Bold. Yee Hah!

Moon
I love looking at the Moon especially when its full and am always amazed that man has set foot on its barren surface. This design was created in Photoshop and uses many of the bevel, emboss and texture features to create the effect. I also used the warp feature and added 'dust' with a custom brush.

Love Ink
Love Ink is a design based around the process print inks - cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Despite the continued growth of the internet and multimedia, print is very much alive in all its various forms. So… Love Ink… and help keep print alive!

The Artist Logo
Whether or not you like Prince and his music, I think most people would agree his logo is an excellent example of icon design. It symbolises his music and ethos well, and is a very recognisable symbol.
I thought it would provide a good subject for a 3D rendered logo. This was produced in Illustrator using the 3D Extrude and Revolve tools with custom perspective and lighting. Although the 3D tools in Illustrator are quite basic you can create some simple but effective designs with a little practice.
