Bumpy Road

This design is based on the phrase 'Life is a bumpy road' and was created in Illustrator. The type was created on a wavy path and warped to represent the road. The trees were created with the brush tool. Life may have its ups and downs but we always seem to reach our destination!

One Step...

A new 3D paper cut design based on the saying 'One step at a time'. All elements are hand cut from coloured paper and assembled using foam spacers to create the layered effect. I have also included some close up images to show the construction method.

Pull my strings

A new 3D paper cut design that represents a puppet on strings using the word 'puppet' to represent the figure. The letters are hand cut from paper and fixed using foam spacers to provide depth. The strings are made from embroidery thread, and once assembled the design is simply photographed.

No Flies

I used Pyrography (wood burning) to create this design, based on the popular phrase 'no flies on me'. I thought it might look quite good with the words woven into a spiders web?

Chaos

A new 3D paper cut design based on the theme of chaos. All elements are hand cut from card and layered with foam spacers to create a three dimensional effect. Photographing the final result is tricky to get all the shadows to form in the correct place, so you have to move the light source around until it looks OK. Paper cut designs are often more enjoyable to create than using digital methods and you get that hand made feel that is hard to achieve with a computer.

Feel the Texture!

This cover design was created in Illustrator using a minimal colour palette of black tints and red. All the textures were vectorised from scanned images (stone and leaves) and I used the transparency features to create depth and tone. The fonts are from the Meta Plus family.

TV

A new design created using paper shapes cut with scissors. Although this method is quite fiddly and time consuming, you get a nice hand made feel which I think adds to the effect. This design celebrates one of the most important inventions of modern day - the TV!

I'm 43

As you can no doubt see this image was created using Lego. I thought it would be an interesting idea to use a child's toy but twist it so it's obvious it was created by an adult. It also represents the fact that your never too old to play!

Head in the Shed

A little graphic created with Adobe Ideas - the amazing vector drawing app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The new version has some great new features like paint bucket, layer options and brush styles. Give it a whirl?

Gold

'Good as gold' is a saying that has been around as long as anyone can remember. This paper cut design uses metallic paper to create the gold metal effect.
