This new paper cut design is made from a single white sheet of card and mounted on top of black and red paper using foam spacers to create a 3D effect. Humbugs are one of my favourite sweets, but thanks to Ebeneezer Scrooge the word has become synonymous with deception or a con.

Wooden it be nice?
This design was created using pyrography - or wood burning, where you use a hot iron tool to burn into the wood, in this case birch. It creates a unique hand made effect but is quite tricky to control. I enjoy creating designs using non digital methods and like to try out more unusual mediums to produce graphic work.

Pipe Dream
This 3D paper cut design is inspired by the phrase 'Pipe Dream' which basically means 'a dream that is unlikely to come true'. The speech bubble can represent someone thinking or also smoke coming out of the pipe. All elements cut from coloured card and assembled with foam spacers to create a layered style.

Think Positive
A simple hand lettered graphic drawn with a Sharpie pen and then vectorised in Illustrator to keep the hand drawn, rough edges.

Give 'em Hell
This 3D paper cut is based on the phrase "Give 'Em Hell" which has appeared in a film, a play and in song lyrics, but I am not exactly sure where it originated. I used three layers and four colours to create this design, interlocking and folding out the elements to create a 3D effect.

Tea
Another paper cut design based on the best drink of the day... Tea! No computers were used to create this design - all elements drawn and cutout by hand which adds to the hand made feel.

Recycle
I was inspired to create this design after watching a TV programme on how dumped rubbish affects wildlife. We should all do our bit to recycle and its good for the environment and the economy. All the elements in this design were hand cut from recycled newspaper and packaging.

Ego
This is another image that I created using Lego. I noticed that the word 'Lego' contains the word 'Ego' so this design basically represents leaving your ego behind and allowing yourself to play end enjoy. Maybe I just never really grew up - is that so bad?

Back 2 Back
This design can be interpreted in different ways - are the birds friends or enemies?
I decided to be a bit more adventurous with this paper cut design. This one has six layers and five colours to provide the 3D effect. All the layers are hand cut from paper and assembled using foam spacers.

Catch a Falling Star
This paper cut is inspired by the famous song 'catch a falling star', which although impossible is a nice sentiment. I decided to create this after the recent meteor incident in Russia, as 'falling stars' are actually meteors - bits of space rock that burn up when they hit the Earths atmosphere. So there you have it - a bit of Art and a bit of Science!

Beyond
A 3D paper cut created from coloured paper and foam spacers to create a layered effect. The theme questions what lies in the future and should we take that next step into the beyond.

Wrinkles
I created this paper cut design after watching a program about Botox injections. Although I have nothing against cosmetic surgery, it made me think that we earn our wrinkles through life and that every wrinkle tells a story. To create this I simply cut out the wording in reverse and then scrumpled up the paper being careful not to destroy the lettering.
